A Message from Senator Lena Gonzalez

Email from Senator Lena Gonzalez

This Saturday, our community will come together to officially kick off Vivian Malauulu’s campaign for Long Beach City Council District 7, and I hope you’ll join me in showing your support.

🗓️ Saturday, October 11

📍 Casa Chaskis

2380 Santa Fe Avenue

Long Beach, CA

🕛 12:00 - 2:00 PM

I have known Vivian Malauulu for nearly 15 years and have watched her grow into a dynamic and engaged community advocate—both as a leader within her union and as a trustee on the Long Beach Community College District Board.

During the pandemic, Vivian served as Board President and was instrumental in ensuring Long Beach City College became a vital community resource for COVID-19 testing and vaccine distribution. At the same time, as Benefits Officer of ILWU Local 13, she fiercely advocated for the 30,000 union members and their families, helping them stay safe, keep the ports working, and maintain the goods movement that drives our regional economy.

Vivian has always been steadfast in her commitment to good jobs, clean air, and protecting workers so that machines do not replace human labor. Her extensive experience as both a longshore worker and an educator gives her a powerful, informed voice. That’s why I appointed her as my Senate representative on the Assembly Bill 639 Task Force, where she did an outstanding job ensuring that working families had a seat at the table on this critical statewide effort.

I am proud to endorse Vivian for the Long Beach City Council’s 7th District. I know she will bring strength, expertise, and dedication to the residents of West Long Beach.

Please join me and our community this Saturday at Casa Chaskis to support Vivian and celebrate the start of this important campaign.

Warm regards,

Senator Lena A. Gonzalez

California State Senate – 33rd District
