From Brunch on the Bluffs to Boots on the Ground

From Vivian

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Saturday. It was truly an outstanding event with great energy, thoughtful conversation, and breathtaking views of the San Pedro Bay ports complex. I am especially grateful to Los Angeles Harbor Commissioner Diane Middleton for graciously opening her beautiful home and hosting such a memorable gathering.

One of the most important takeaways from that morning was the discussion about how critical this City Council seat is for both the West Long Beach community and the thousands of workers whose livelihoods depend on the ports. The 7th District includes the Port of Long Beach. Decisions made at City Hall directly impact our environment, our neighborhoods, our small businesses, and the future of good-paying jobs on the waterfront. It is essential that our community has a seat at the table when these decisions are being made.

I also want to share an important update about the race. When this campaign began, there were six potential candidates considering a run for the District 7 seat. The field has now officially narrowed, and there are three of us in the race. With the candidates now set, the campaign is entering its next phase.

In other words — it’s go time.

We are ready to hit the ground running. Over the next few days, you will begin receiving more detailed updates about the campaign and the many ways you can get involved.

Today, I’m asking you to consider volunteering for our ground campaign.

Our canvassing effort will officially kick off on Saturday, March 21st with the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor highlighting key Long Beach races. More information about that event will be shared soon.

We are building a strong volunteer team to help reach voters throughout West Long Beach. Opportunities include door knocking, precinct walking, phone banking, and community outreach.

Our voter outreach started weeks ago, and we are excited to expand those efforts in the coming weeks.

Volunteer

Once you sign up, our campaign team will follow up with you directly. Volunteers will receive separate emails with additional details about the activities they selected.

Please also feel free to share this email with your family, friends, and neighbors who may want to get involved.

In the meantime, we will continue hosting meet-and-greets and connecting with residents throughout the district. The support we are receiving from our community is incredibly encouraging, and I am thankful for every person who has stepped up to help.

Thank you again for being part of this campaign. I look forward to seeing many of you out in the neighborhood as we continue organizing.

Sincerely,

Vivian Malauulu

Candidate for Long Beach City Council, District 7
