Music and Momentum

From Vivian

This campaign is powered by community and I am incredibly grateful for the growing coalition of neighbors, leaders, and small businesses that continue to stand with us.

As we head into a very exciting weekend, I would like to highlight a few key endorsements that truly underscore what we are building together:

  • Long Beach Chamber of Commerce

  • Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce

  • Los Angeles BizFed PAC

  • Latinas Lead California

  • Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters

These organizations reflect so much of what this campaign is about: supporting local businesses, strengthening neighborhoods, investing in working families, and building community.

These organizations reflect so much of what this campaign is about: supporting local businesses, strengthening neighborhoods, investing in working families, and building community. Their endorsement quotes are included at the bottom of this email.

I am especially grateful for the support of small businesses throughout the district. From restaurants and coffee shops to neighborhood gathering spaces, our campaign has intentionally partnered with local businesses for many of our events because they give our community its heart and soul.

TONIGHT (Friday 5/8), we are hosting a fundraiser at Long Beach Beer Lab featuring the award-winning and living legend Bill Grisolia Band. Bill is on the Board of the Long Beach Blues Society and we are excited to welcome his colleagues from the Board to this event. It’s going to be a fun evening filled with great music, great people, and great conversation.

Bill leads the vanguard of the new blues movement in the U.S. (think Black Keys, White Stripes, Joe Bonamassa and John Mayer). He plays festivals, concerts and top night clubs in the US and internationally. In 2020, he sold out a NYE show with Los Lobos and the first-ever music concert at the new Aquarium of the Pacific concert hall (Bill co-produced the show).

Why not make it an early Mother’s Day date night? Come enjoy a wonderful evening of live music while supporting our campaign and our community. Please click on the flyer below to RSVP:

Then TOMORROW (Saturday 5/9), we are holding our third Community Walk Day, and we would love for you to join us. Bring the whole family, wear comfortable walking shoes, and help us continue reaching voters across the district one conversation at a time.

Please click on the flyer below to RSVP so we can make sure Casa Perez has enough breakfast ready for everyone.

If you can’t make it to our fundraiser or canvass, please consider joining our phone bank team. We still have several hundred calls to make, and adding your voice to our chorus of supporters will truly make a difference. Please click here to volunteer.

Thank you again for helping us build a true grassroots movement powered by people and partnerships.

I hope to see you this weekend!

“Dr. Vivian Malauulu understands that strong neighborhoods and a strong local economy go hand-in-hand. She brings a practical community-focused approach to public service and has consistently demonstrated a willingness to engage directly with residents, businesses, and stakeholders across Long Beach. The Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce PAC is proud to endorse Vivian Malauulu for Long Beach City Council District 7 because we believe she will be a thoughtful, collaborative leader, who will prioritize, economic opportunity, public safety, and the long-term success of West Long Beach.”

– Long Beach Chamber of Commerce

“Dr. Vivian Malauulu embodies the leadership our communities and small business owners deserve. The Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce is proud to endorse her candidacy for Long Beach City Council. Vivian’s lived experience and commitment to economic opportunity position her to be a strong advocate for local entrepreneurs, workers, and families across Long Beach.

– Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce

“Los Angeles BizFed PAC is proud to endorse Dr. Vivian Malauulu for Long Beach City Council District 7. Representing a powerful alliance of 240 business organizations, 420,000 employers, and more than 5 million employees across Southern California, BizFed recognizes leaders who understand how to bring diverse stakeholders together to strengthen communities and local economies.

As an elected trustee at Long Beach City College, Dr. Malauulu has demonstrated a unique ability to connect education, workforce development, labor, and business partnerships to create meaningful opportunities for students and working families. BizFed is confident she will bring that same collaborative leadership, practical problem-solving, and commitment to economic growth to the Long Beach City Council, serving the residents and businesses of the 7th District with vision, energy, and results.”

– Los Angeles BizFed PAC

“We are proud to endorse Dr. Vivian Malauulu for Long Beach City Council District 7. Latinas Lead first endorsed Vivian during her successful campaign for the Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees in 2016, when she became the first Latina elected to the board. Since then, she has been a strong advocate for Latinas in her trustee area and beyond, consistently fighting to expand educational, professional, and leadership opportunities for Latina women and students. Through her work as an educator, trustee, and union officer, Vivian has worked to ensure that Latina women are represented in both academic and occupational pathways. She has also been a strong supporter of fellow Latina leaders and continues to champion the importance of Latina voices being represented at every level throughout California.

As part of the one percent of Latinas in the United States who hold doctoral degrees, Vivian’s journey reflects extraordinary perseverance, discipline, and determination. Completing a doctorate while simultaneously leading a public service campaign speaks to her tenacity and her commitment to leading by example for future generations of Latina women. She represents the strength, resilience, and leadership that our communities need, and we are proud to stand with Vivian Malauulu once again.”

– Latinas Lead California

"The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters is proud to endorse Vivian Malauulu for Long Beach City Council to represent District 7. Her passion for her community demonstrates how she will be a strong advocate for clean air and clean water for her residents. We look forward to supporting her efforts to ensure a healthy and sustainable Long Beach."

– Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters
