campaign email #60

WE DID IT! THANK YOU!

From Vivian

We won.

Thank you, Long Beach City Council District 7, for your trust and for giving me the opportunity to serve.

Thank you to God, my husband, children, mom, sister, extended family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and colleagues for standing beside me throughout this months-long journey. I love you all very much. As I shared Tuesday night, I am blessed because of you.

I appreciate every donor and supporter who helped fuel this people-powered campaign. I am especially grateful to every volunteer and voter who believed in our shared vision for the future of our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this campaign in ways both large and small.

I also want to congratulate Mr. Gordon and Mr. Shuford on their well-run campaigns. Running for office requires tremendous courage, unwavering dedication, and personal sacrifice. Our community is stronger because of your willingness to step up and serve, and I look forward to working together in the future.

To every resident and merchant in District 7, this is only the beginning. Together, we will unite the Westside and Wrigley to build a district we can all be proud to call home. We will honor our rich history, celebrate our diverse cultures, strengthen our neighborhoods, support local businesses, and showcase to the rest of Long Beach the beauty, resilience, and spirit that define West Long Beach.

Whether you voted for me or not, I am committed to serving every corner of District 7 with accessibility, compassion, integrity, heart, and the strong work ethic and high standard of public service for which our family is known.

I am deeply honored and humbled by this victory. With your support, we won this election outright in the primary so there will not be a runoff in November.

Our Vote Watch Party was an incredible celebration! Nearly 250 of us came together to mark the occasion and enjoy delicious food from Black Pork, Buono’s, Casa Chaskis, El Esquite, Gammae, and Queen’s Fish Market as part of our Best of the West Buffet.

A few special shout-outs are in order:

🚤 Sport fishing extraordinaire Terrell, who pulled up in his boat appropriately named Victory.

🎂 Be Creative Digna, who baked a stunning and delicious cake featuring edible logos representing District 7, LBCC, ILWU, and even the Honduran national emblem.

🌺 MMcreations for the gorgeous centerpieces and decorations.

🎶 DJ JOHNNYCARSON, a proud Westside resident and former student of both George and me from our teaching days, who kept the party going.

❤️ Our beloved family and friends, who showed up early, stayed late, and helped with everything before, during, and after the party.

⚓ Lawrence and his family, who worked tirelessly to ensure the remodel of Queen’s Wharf Restaurant was completed in time for our celebration. Thanks to their vision and hard work, the Westside now has a beautiful, affordable waterfront banquet venue available for family celebrations, special events, and community gatherings.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so memorable. It was a wonderful way to celebrate together and look ahead to the future of District 7.

We are also organizing a community lawn sign round-up while continuing to support two wonderful West Long Beach small businesses.

You are absolutely welcome to keep your lawn sign and repurpose it however you would like. Some fun ideas include graduation posters, garden trellises, kids art projects, garage sales, or other creative reuse ideas. How about making encouraging signs to line the route of the Wrigley River Run this Saturday morning? Be sure to send me photos of how you use your lawn sign!

If you would prefer to return your lawn sign, they may be dropped off through Friday, June 5, at either of these participating businesses:

PBS Pub

464 West Willow

Black Pork

1916 West Willow

Both businesses are generously offering 10% off your total tab when you bring in a campaign lawn sign. Please take a moment to support these amazing local businesses while visiting.

Our goal is simple: keep signs out of landfills, bring neighbors into local businesses, and continue strengthening the Westside and Wrigley community we all love.

If you would prefer that I pick up your lawn sign personally, please text me at 562-572-7313 and I will gladly stop by to collect it.

There will be one final campaign email later this month after the Los Angeles County Registrar and the Long Beach City Clerk certify the official election results.

Finally, and I truly hate to ask, but we still have some remaining campaign debt from the final days of our Get Out the Vote effort. With more than 100 volunteers knocking on doors, making calls, and reaching voters throughout the district, we left everything on the field. The costs of our GOTV outreach added up. If you are able to help us close the gap and retire some of that remaining debt, we would greatly appreciate it. No contribution amount is too small and every bit of support makes a difference.

Donate

Thank you again for the prayers, volunteer hours, encouragement, donations, conversations, and belief in this campaign. The Westside and Wrigley showed up in a very big way, and I will never forget it. I am excited to get to work. The best is yet to come.

With immense gratitude,

Councilwoman-Elect Dr. Vivian Malauulu

Candidate for Long Beach City Council District 7
